Welcome!
- Oanh Love
- Hi! Welcome to my myriad of foodie excursions! If it is comestible I will eat it! I use to be a picky eater but I realized that I’ve been missing out! If you don't open up your palate, YOU HAVE NOT LIVED. I learned to appreciate other cultures through different cuisines & I have TONS of favorites! Caribbean (I’m an east coast girl at heart! Jamaican patties were my staple!), Middle Eastern (I CRAVE basmati rice.. like CRAVE), sushi & Izakaya (if I die tomorrow I would like to have uni and ankimo to be the last thing I eat), Italian (I am WEAK to burrata with EVOO & balsamic dressing drizzled all over on a bed of sour dough), Philipino food (Pork sisig is SO effin good!), Indian (garlic naan dipped in tikka marsala MMMM!), AUTHENTIC Mexican (lamb soup from a Mexican crawl in East LA WOWED me!) and to my own very ethnic food such as Vietnamese (bo kho, bo luc lac, bun rieu, etc. etc. ETC!), Hainanese (I love Savoy!) and French (uhh EVERYTHING!). I'm the happiest when I find a great hole in the wall, appreciate the occasional fine dining experience (not too often to lose its luster), and best of all, good ol’ home cooking. I just love ALL FOOD.

Working & Eating in NYC
Joe's Shanghai
Yup. These were damn good dumplings. The east coast Din Tai Fung.
53rd & 6th - The Halal Guys
Please don't hate me but it's not the same when eating this sober. The chicken and rice is the holy grail of must eats for NYC but for some reason it wasn't doing it for me. Perhaps it was because I was sober and perhaps I came on an off day because both the chicken and rice were dry. The white sauce couldn't salvage it even if I drowned it. I guess this is best eaten when drunk.
Shake Shack
The Simple Shack & Strawberry Shake
This burger is pretty decadent. It was full of flavor and the bun was pretty buttery. I think that this is better than Cali's In N Out when consumed in small increments. Beyond the means just becomes too much. In N Out of course I can devour the whole thing and not feel like I squeezed a tube of lard down my throat. They are both good.
Actually, Shake Shack is verrry similar to Nancy Silverton's Short Order burger.
Arirang
K-town eats with some Korean pancake, soup, meatballs, and of course... soju!
New York Pizza
Yayuhhh... nothing can beat NY pizza. For me, I prefer the hole in the wall mom & pop pizzerias over the famed ones like Lombardi's or Grimaldi's.
Complimentary Dinner at Scarpetta
My first Scarpetta experience was not a memorable one. In fact I was quite disappointed. I expect excellent if the owner/chef is a celebrity chef judging other chefs on television like Chopped. My second experience was compleeteeeelyyyyy different. It was excellent! Not only was it delicious but it was complimentary, and we sat at the chef's table in the kitchen.
Marian the Foodie invited me to come and be her plus 1 at the same time held our Project by Project "transition" meeting there.
