Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to my myriad of foodie excursions! If it is comestible I will eat it! I use to be a picky eater but I realized that I’ve been missing out! If you don't open up your palate, YOU HAVE NOT LIVED. I learned to appreciate other cultures through different cuisines & I have TONS of favorites! Caribbean (I’m an east coast girl at heart! Jamaican patties were my staple!), Middle Eastern (I CRAVE basmati rice.. like CRAVE), sushi & Izakaya (if I die tomorrow I would like to have uni and ankimo to be the last thing I eat), Italian (I am WEAK to burrata with EVOO & balsamic dressing drizzled all over on a bed of sour dough), Philipino food (Pork sisig is SO effin good!), Indian (garlic naan dipped in tikka marsala MMMM!), AUTHENTIC Mexican (lamb soup from a Mexican crawl in East LA WOWED me!) and to my own very ethnic food such as Vietnamese (bo kho, bo luc lac, bun rieu, etc. etc. ETC!), Hainanese (I love Savoy!) and French (uhh EVERYTHING!). I'm the happiest when I find a great hole in the wall, appreciate the occasional fine dining experience (not too often to lose its luster), and best of all, good ol’ home cooking. I just love ALL FOOD.

Spring Roll Party with the Ravenous Couple!

History recap:  So how do I know the Ravenous Couple?  The female counterpart of the couple is actually my old high school friend.  When we reconnected she told me that she was also a foodie and blogger when she found out that I was one as well.  When she linked me to her blog page I was blown away!  WOW talk about an incredible blog!  Her fiance, the webmaster & blogger, actually made a comment on this blog on a separate occasion not knowing that his fiance is my friend.  The rest was history!  Food bloggers do unite.  :)  They are an awesome couple with an immense love for Vietnamese cooking and cuisine.  They are definitely high up there in their own niche and I highly encourage everyone to check them out at http://ravenouscouple.blogspot.com/

So with that said... they invited me to their spring roll party!  Uhh... HELL YEAH I'm coming!  Upon arrival I was a bit shy because I didn't know most of the patrons so I didn't really document everything.  Just whatever that was at my table.

They made ca nuong (fried cat fish) with nem nuong (grilled pork patty rolls), fresh assortment of greens, rice paper and 3 different types of dipping sauces.

We tore right into it and let me tell you... it was EXCELLENT!
The catfish was incredibly flavory with the meat being so soft and tender while the skin was perfectly crispy.
The 3 different dipping sauces.  Peanut sauce, nuoc man cham and their very own concoction of Brodard's secret nem nuong sauce.
Ingredients to be able to recreate the famous Brodard's "nem nuong" goi cuon with nem nuong and the fried eggroll paper for that crunch.  So so gooood.
Voila!  Here's my big fat spring roll.  I had about 4 of these babies and loved the Ravenous Couple's version of the famous Brodard sauce but their peanut sauce was right on point with perfection.
My favorite type of beer to wash down this fabulous lunch... Belgium beer.
Kim made the che Thai!  It was SO good and refreshing with the mixture of the jackfruit, cocunut jelly and other goodies!  It was a great way to end this ravenous meal!

Thanks for the invite, guys!  I was nice and full MINUS the guilt!!  Till next time!
